Whitney Cheshire, President of Cheshire Communication Strategies, has been managing political campaigns and specializing in media relations for New Mexico's conservative candidates since 1997.
In 2001, Cheshire managed a respectable finish in a crowded field of candidates for Mayor of Albuquerque - beating both the incumbent Mayor and a well-funded opponent who outspent her candidate nearly four to one.
And when the late Joe Skeen (R - NM), Congressman from New Mexico's second district, announced that he would not be seeking re-election in 2002, Cheshire managed a successful win in a five-way primary for now US Congressman Steve Pearce (R - NM).
Cheshire served as Press Secretary to State Representative John Sanchez in his bid for Governor in 2002 - handling media communications in the race against current Governor and likely 2008 Presidential candidate Bill Richardson.
Seeing a need for better campaign management tools and technology assistance for local candidates, Cheshire branched out on the Internet and developed a website - www.nmvictory.com - in 2003 to provide basic data management and communications functions for incumbents and candidates alike.
In 2004 and 2005, Cheshire served as Communications Director for the Republican Caucus of the New Mexico House of Representatives during the State's brief legislative sessions. And with the busy election year of 2004, Cheshire served first as New Mexico's Bush Cheney 04 re-election Communications Director, and later provided communications work for the Republican National Committee and the New Mexico Victory 2004 effort.
Cheshire Consulting LLC, now known as Cheshire Communication Strategies, has provided earned media and campaign management consulting for a variety of state and local candidates over the years and continues to do so today.
